Liquid Lanscapes

Water is a crucial element in the future of the planet. This is all the more relevant with climate change : drought, rising sea levels, natural disasters, etc.
I am interested here in the playful use that we make of it with astonishing carelessness, as if nothing was going to change, and in the contact zones between water and earth, in an artistic approach.
I often work on maritime or lake landscapes, often synonymous with swimming. It’s paradoxical, because I almost drowned as a teenager, and I don’t particularly have an attraction to this element. But it is clear that it fascinates me and that it is very present in my artistic production…
Usually I work first on computer, then I print on fine art papers, I finish by painting with ink and acrylic.

Gust of wind at La Ciotat

Windy day on the beach of La Ciotat, in the south east of France. This area is sometimes subject to health problems.

Playa de la Patacona

One of the great beaches of Valencia, in the south of Spain. The excessive urbanization of Valencia caused a huge flood this year in a nearby town, with several deaths and gigantic damage.

Espiguette

South of France, on the Rhône delta. This wild beach is disappearing, despite the ganivelles (wooden slats) planted to fix the sand.

Mèze beach

Etang de Thau, in the South of France near Sète. Oysters are grown on this immense lagoon, which suffers from overcrowding and invasive species which destabilize the local eco system.

Angon beach

Annecy’lake, in the north east of France. Global
warming and high numbers of visitors pose problems for the lake’s
professional fishermen who see fish becoming rarer.

Praia Internationale

Matosinhos, in Portugal, near Porto. Local residents are having more and more problems finding accommodation due to the massive influx of new arrivals from all over Europe and even the USA, with strong purchasing power.

Praia de Lagos

South west of Portugal. This entire coast between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic suffers from excessive urbanization caused by massive tourism. Numerous remains of cliffs punctuate the coast, a phenomenon which will become more pronounced.

Ilha de Armona

South east of Portugal. Unlike the western part, this area is preserved from excessive urbanization, because the beaches are protected from the land by a string of lagoons which is currently protected.

Playa de la Concha

San Sebastian, in the northwest of Spain, on the Atlantic. Much less urbanized than the Mediterranean coast of Spain, this region still benefits from a family atmosphere and reasonable attendance.

Kids from Ile d'Yeu

. The island of Yeu, off the coast of Vendée, on the Atlantic. This still preserved island is fighting against the desire for excessive urbanization.
