Geovanni was born on a Halloween night in 1983 in Panama, in the province of Chiriquí. He grew up like any other child—surrounded by family, friends, games, and colors. But at the age of ten, a life-altering event occurred: an infection took away the sight in his left eye.

How does a child, who once saw the sky, shapes, and the very essence of life, adjust to a new world? Life, unknowingly, was preparing him for another challenge. At twenty-five, fifteen years after losing vision in one eye, the infection spread to his right. For 25 years, Geovanni knew what sunlight on the face felt like, and how magical the moon looked on a full moon night.

He had to learn to live again—reading with his hands, seeing through sound, and overcoming fear of the unseen. Yet the curious, fearless child he once was still lives within him.

After these two life-changing events, and with unwavering faith, Geovanni pursued a university degree in Religion, Ethics, and Morality. But his journey didn’t end there. The child inside him still wanted to play. So, Geovanni turned to triathlon—he runs, swims, cycles—and has won awards both in Panama and abroad.

This photographic project explores not just Geovanni’s resilience, but also the light that persists even in darkness. A life marked by loss and transformation—yet also by movement, faith, and the unbreakable will to keep going.

Because life is like that—full of moments, sensations, triumphs, defeats, dark days… and also, brilliantly bright ones.
